The Role

As an Engineering company focusing on Project management, Instrumentation products and services we have a vacancy for a Project Engineer to deliver projects of £100k to £1M on time and to a high standard. The projects will be predominantly based in the North West and will encompass a variety of industry applications.

This on-site role is in a client facing capacity so rapport building skills and technical expertise are essential.

It is expected that the Project Engineer will be a confident and assertive individual with the ability to work on their own initiative. You should be qualified to either Degree or HND level in a relevant discipline and be prepared to undergo further training where necessary.

The Project Engineer – Will be involved in taking technical responsibility for a number of projects and be the contact point for the client on all aspects of the project(s) workflow. There are typically 4/5 projects running simultaneously.


  • You would be expected to apply your knowledge, skills, tools and techniques to project activities to meet the client’s project requirements.
  • Accomplish the project objectives through the application and integration of the project management processes of initiating, estimating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing.
  • Development of a project strategy to identify long lead/ critical equipment and materials, develop procurement procedures and plans.
  • Carry out project control, project accounting requirements and risk analysis.
  • Work to a developed execution plan to define owner approval requirements, engineering and construction plan, shutdown turnaround requirements pre-commissioning turnover sequence requirements, start-up requirements, training requirements.
  • Health and Safety management of the team of engineers and sub-contract personnel reporting into you.

You will be responsible for building the project from the initial job request through management of change to the design, implementation and commissioning of factory upgrades across the manufacturing facility.


The successful Project Engineer will have the following skills / experience:

  • Degree or HNC in Engineering Discipline.
  • Experience in managing turn-key projects
  • Strong engineering background
  • Project time management experience.
  • Project budget control.
  • Experience of working with cross functional teams to ensure that project deliverables are achieved (timescales, budgets, etc.).
  • Excellent communicator able to interface with the client and hold your own in technical project meetings.
  • Flexibility; Must be prepared, from time to time, to work flexible hours as the business necessitates.
  • Ability to lead meetings.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team player.
  • Customer/Client focused.
  • ATEX knowledge.
  • Practised participant in Management of Change and Hazard and operability studies.
  • Preparation of work packages for tender and contractor appraisal.
  • Participate in technical reviews and project workshops.

An above market salary of £45 – 50K is on offer with added benefits that you would expect for this type of role.
